Jan 16 1995: pari-1.39 released by BaBe CoOl, the last major release in the original 1.xxx series.
Sept 1993: Niels Möller ports PARI/GP to the Amiga.
Feb 28 1990: international release of PARI 1.31, by BaBe CoOl.
1988: Dominique Bernardi finishes a Macintosh port.
1987: Dominique Bernardi joins the project and writes a new calculator using Algebraic Notation, e.g. 2 * (3 + 4). The calculator uses standard flow control instructions and allows to define one's own user functions. It is renamed gp, P for "Programmable".
1986: Christian Batut, Henri Cohen, and Michel Olivier write the first PARI assembly kernel and start fleshing out the PARI library. Batut writes the Grand Calculateur gc, which uses Reverse Polish Notation, e.g. 2 3 4 + * (evaluates to 14).
1983: first stages of the PARI project. François Dress proposes the PARI acronym.
1979: Henri Cohen and François Dress write the ISABELLE interpreter for higher arithmetic.
